It lies between energy bars and snack bars, featuring high fiber, low added sugar and strong satiety. It is suitable as a breakfast meal replacement, fitness supplement and outdoor sports food. Following is a detailed outline of the process:

  • Pretreatment of raw materials:

- Oat/grain baking: Use an oven or roller baking machine to enhance the aroma. The temperature is usually controlled at 150-180°C, and the time is 5-10 minutes.

-Nut/dried fruit processing: Nuts need to be shelled and chopped (using a nut crusher), and dried fruits may need to be soaked to soften (for example, dates need to be mashed).

  • Dry mixing of mixed ingredients:

-Dry-mixing:Dry raw materials such as oats, nuts, and seeds are pre-mixed in a screw mixer or paddle mixer.

-Wet-mixing: Heat the syrup (honey/maltose syrup) and oil (peanut butter/coconut oil) in a double-layered pot to 60-70°C to melt them, and then mix them with the dry ingredients.

  • Flat pressing and forming:

-Lay the mold flat:The mixed materials are sent into the pressing and forming machine through a conveyor belt and pressed into sheets of uniform thickness (usually 1-2cm) by a roller press or a hydraulic forming machine.

-Mold forming (optional) : Some products are cut into fixed shapes (such as square, round) using molds.

  • Baking/Cooling Baking (such as hard grain bars) :

-Baking (such as hard grain bars):Use a tunnel oven at 160-180°C for 10-20 minutes (soft energy bars may not require baking).

-Cooling: Cool down to room temperature through a cooling conveyor belt or air-cooling system to prevent condensation after packaging.

  • Longitudinal and transverse cutting:

Longitudinal cutting & transverse cutting:Use a multi-functional cutting machine (such as a reciprocating blade or rotary cutting machine) to cut into standard sizes (such as 3×5cm).

  • Automatic packaging machine:

-Pillow packaging: (suitable for individual grain bars),
